What should I do after truck accident?
Most important is seeking proper and necessary medical treatment for your injuries. Many people try to “tough it out” and only end up prolonging their injuries by not seeking prompt medical treatment. Additionally, understand that emergency rooms are designed to handle emergency situations and not ongoing diagnosis and treatment. Document the scene
If you are able, take photographs with your cell phone of the position of the vehicles and damage caused in the truck accident. Make sure you have the information on the truck driver and keep the officer’s card or other contact information. Never agree to waive an accident report if you feel you are not at fault.
Do not give a statement to the truck driver’s insurance company
After a serious truck accident one of the first things an insurance company will do is send an adjuster out to take a recorded statement from you, the victim.
